IMPAC

PIA of Indiana could not be successful in its legislative and public affairs efforts without the Insurance Marketing Political Action Committee (IMPAC). IMPAC helps Professional Independent Agents across the state have a voice in the political arena by supporting the election of sensible leaders who will listen to agent and industry concerns. By combining your financial contribution with PIA members from across the state, IMPAC allows you to compete with big-money interests in the legislative arena. While agents may not all share the same political views, they do share the same underlying values and common cause of protecting the American Agency System so that customers can be served with choices of coverages to meet their unique insurance needs.

IMPAC cannot fulfill its goals without the generous contributions of PIA members. We need your help. Please consider making a contribution immediately.

If you would like to contribute to IMPAC, complete and mail an IMPAC contribution form to PIA with a personal check made payable to PIA of Indiana, or call the PIA office at (317) 899-9200 to make your contribution over the phone. Please note that while corporate contributions cannot be accepted, contributions from partnerships, sole proprietorships and unincorporated businesses are acceptable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is IMPAC?
IMPAC is PIA of Indiana's political action committee. IMPAC is the chief mechanism through which PIA facilitates political giving by individual PIA members to influence the result of legislative and statewide elections.

Why does IMPAC exist?
The purpose of IMPAC is to generate sufficient financial resources to provide meaningful support for statewide and legislative candidates who share PIA's views on critical issues and support the independent agent profession.

Why give to IMPAC instead of just giving to candidates directly?
By pooling their financial resources via IMPAC, individual agents can, in effect, make contributions in support of candidates in larger amounts than they might otherwise be able to make on their own. As a result, the overall impact of the dollars being donated to a particular candidate is enhanced, something that raises the stature of PIA, helps it promote its agenda, and benefits individual agents.

When does PIA raise funds for IMPAC?
Because laws and regulations affecting agents never stop, fundraising efforts for IMPAC never stop.

How does PIA determine which candidates receive support from IMPAC?
Disbursement determinations regarding IMPAC funds are made by the PAC steering committee, which continually evaluate candidates for statewide and legislative offices and make strategic decisions on which candidates to support and how much support to provide each member of the committee is a Professional, Independent agent. These decisions are based on the amount of IMPAC funds available, a candidate's record on PIA issues, personal requests by PIA members, and the likelihood of a particular candidate to win his or her race for elected office.

How can I make my contribution and what forms of payment are accepted?
Contributions can be made to IMPAC by mailing a personal check to the PIA office. Checks should be made out to PIA of Indiana. Contributions can also be made over the phone with a personal credit card. Please remember that corporate contributions are prohibited by law.
